Topographic Map Quiz

gradient the ratio between two points' relief and their distance
contour lines lines on topographic maps that connect points of the same elevation
contour interval the difference in elevation between two contour lines
index contour a contour line that is accentuated in thickness and is labeled with the appropriate measure of elevation, they usually occur every fifth contour line
prime meridian an imaginary line running from the North Pole to the South Pole, passing through Greenwich, England; the 0* reference line for longtitude
equator an imaginary line , at 0* latitude, that circles Earth exactly half way between the North and South Poles; separates Earth into the northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere
