| Amino Acid | building blocks of protein |
| Monosaccharide | one sugar |
| Disaccharide | two sugars bonded |
| Polysaccharide | three or more sugars bonded |
| Carbohyrate | used mainly for energy |
| Lipids | used for energy, protection, insulation, cell membrane |
| Glucose | an example of a monosaccharide |
| Starch | a complex carb created in plants |
| Cellulose | a complex carb that is part of the cell wall |
| Glycogen | complex carb stored in human liver |
| Hydrolysis | using water to break molecules apart |
| Dehydration Synthesis | removing water to put molecules together |
| ATP | energy |
| Monomer | a single molecule |
| Polymer | a chain of molecules |
| Saturated Fat | chain of carbons all bonded with single bonds |
| Unsaturated Fat | chain of carbons bonded with single and double bonds |
| Wax | lipid that is solid at room tempterature |
| Oil | lipid that is liquid at room tempterature |
| Peptide Bond | bond between a carbon and hydrogen |
| Denature | when an enzyme loses its shape |
