Meristems Permanent regions of growth
Apical Meristems Meristematic tissue at the end of roots and shoots, increase roots/shoots in length
Lateral Meristems Meristematic tissue that increases girth (secondary tissue)
Collenchyma Provide flexible support for organs, thicker cell walls
Parenchyma Most abundant cell type,tend to have large vacuoles
Sclerenchyma Thick walls, dead when mature, function as support
Xylem Conducts water and minerals throughout the plant
Phloem Conducts sugars throughout the plant
Plasmodesmata Channels that traverse the cell wall, enables transport of things btwn cells
