| Term | Definition |

| Pedigree | is a graphic representation of genetic inheritance. |
| Carrier | heterozygous, represented as a shaded half circle. |
| Fetus | the developing baby. |
| Incomplete Dominance | the phenotype of heterozygous individuals is intermediate between those of the two homozygotes. |
| Codominant Allele | cause the phenotypes of both homozygotes to be produced in heterozygous individuals. |
| Multiple Allele | traits controlled by two or more alleles. |
| Autosome | the 22 pairs of homologous chromosomes. |
| Sex Chromosome | the two chromosomes that determine what sex the individual will be, X & Y |
| Sex-Linked Traits | traits controlled by genes located on the sec chromosomes. |
| Polygenic Inheritance | the inheritance pattern of a trait controlled by two or more genes. |
| Karyotype | a chart of chromosome pairs, it is valuable in identifying unusual chromosome numbers in cells. |
