Crick Lipid and Prot
Cricks Protein & LipidPathway
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| Protein Step 1 | DNA in the nucleus is copied into a form called RNA, which leaves the nucleus through the nuclear pores |
| Protein Step 2 | The RNA leaves the nucleus and enters the Rough Endoplasmic reticulum. |
| Protein Step 3 | The ribosomes read the RNA code and use that info to construct a Protein, one piece at a time. |
| Protein Step 4 | The newly built protein leaves the ER and travels to the Golgi Apparatue |
| Protein Step 5 | The golgi packages the protein so that it can be safely shipped out of the cell. |
| Protein Step 6 | The packaged protein leaves the Golgi, and moves out of the cell through the cell membrane |
| Lipid Step 1 | Enzymes in the SMOOTH ER take basic chemicals from the cytoplasm |
| Lipid Step 2 | Enzymes assemble the lipids (fat) into molecules combined with phosphorus |
| Lipid Step 3 | From the smooth ER, the phosphorus-lipid molecule is inserted directly into the cell membrane |
