Atom the smallest unit of an element that maintains the properties of that element
Element a substance that cannot be separated or broken down into similar substance by chemical means
Compound a substance made up of atoms of two or more different elements joined by chemical bonds
Molecule the smallest unit of a substance that keeps all of the physical and chemical properties of that substance; it can consists of one atom or two or more atoms bonded together
Ion an atom, radical, or molecule that has gained or lost one or more electrons and has a negative or positive charge
