enzyme a protein that breaks things down and speeds up chemical reactions (catalyst)
rennin an enzyme found in calf stomach gastric juices
fermentation the processing of foods via mold, yeast and bacteria
yeast A yellow fungi that aids in fermentation
heredity The study of genetics
law of segregation Mendel's theory that offspring get traits from their parents.
law of independent assortment That each gene/trait is independent and isn't affected by other traits
cells basic form of life in an organisms
vaccine A treatment that prevents a person from getting a certain disease in the future
antibiotic A treatment for bacterial diseases
artificial insemination When you unnaturally take sperm and insert it into a female genitalia
embryo transfer Taking the embryo from an inferior mother to a superior female
genetic code The order of nitrogenous bases that code for certain proteins in an organism.
vertical gene transfer Transfer of genetic information to offspring
DNA Deoxyribonucleic Acid, is responsible for coding for proteins in an organism
double helix the shape of DNA to easily allow the enzymes to break it apart
genetic engineering The act of transferring DNA from one organism to another
horizontal gene transfer Natural, transferring DNA from cell to cell
gene splicing Manipulating DNA to manipulate a trait
enviornment conditions that surround an organism
