Cell Wall (for plants only) Rigid outer structure that provides support and protection.
Vacuole (plant cell) Much larger in plant cells/stores water and helps plant keep its shape.
CHLOROPLAST (for plants only) Contains chlorophyll / captures energy from sunlight and stores it in glucose molecules
CELL MEMBRANE (animal cell) The protective, outer layer that controls what enters and leaves
ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM (animal cell) A folded membrane that moves materials around inside the cell
RIBOSOMES on ER (animal cell) The smallest organelle / makes proteins
CYTOPLASM (animal cell) Gel-like material that streams through cell / stores chemicals
GOLGI BODY (animal cell) Stacks of sac-like membranes / package materials to ship out
VACUOLE (animal cell) Small sac that stores water, food, and waste temporarily
MITOCHONDRION (animal cell) Inner folded membrane / breaks down glucose to release energy
LYSOSOME (animal cell) Small sacs with pores / digestive enzymes get rid of waste, worn out parts, and invaders
