Conductivity The ability to connduct or transmit heat, elecricity, or sound
Cation An ion or group of ions that have a positive charge
Anion An ion or group of ions that have negative charge
Electrolyte A chemical compound that breaks into seperate ions when it is dissolved or molten to produce an electically conductive product
Refraction the bending or turning of light waves when it passes through the water
Reflection Projecting back an image through light without absorbing it
Solute The component in a slution dissolved in the solvent
Ion An atom or molecule with a net electric charge due to the loss or gain of one or more electrons
Polar A molecule with a net dipole as a result of opposing charges
Boiling point the point where water turns to vapor
Frezzing point the point at which a liquid turns to a soild
Specific heat The heat required to raise the temperature of the unit mass of a given substance be a given amount
Melting point the temperature at which a given soliid will melt
Cohesion the action or fact of forming a united whole
Intermolecular Force Forces that act between stable molecules or between functional groups of macromolecules
Molecules A group of atoms bonded together, representing the smallest fundamental unit of a chemical compound that can take part in a chemical reaction
Adhesion the ability of water to stick to a surface or object
Independant variable the one the scientist changes
Dependant variable to see how it responds to the change made to the independant variable
Controlled Variables quantities that a scientist wants to remain constant

Farenheit a way of denotating a scale of temperature onwhich water frezes at 32 degrees and boils at 212 degrees under standard conditions
Frezing point the temperature at which a liquid turns into a soild when cooled
evaporation the proccess by which a liquid changes into a gas
Density a property of matter representing the mass per unit
Fresh water water that is not salty and has little or no taste color smell
Condensation Water vapor becoming a liquid
Precipitation any type of liquid or solid water that falls to earths surface such as rain snow or hail
Water vapor water in the form of a gas
Surface tension the result of an inward pull amoung the molecules of a liquid that brings the molecules on the surface closer together
Universal solvent Water due to its polarity and ability to dissolve many differnt solutes
