what are Proprietary hospitals? For Profit:privately owned and bills patients, fees paid are their only income.
What are Public hospitals? A hospital that is operated by funding from a local government.
what are specialty hospitals? A hospital that only treats a special group of a specific illness.
what are government hospitals? A hospital that is run exclusively for the benefit of government employees.
what are charity hospitals? A hospital that operates entirely on funds donated for use. Patients are usually treated without payment in return.
what are university hospitals? A university funded hospital that does research and also trains new doctors in addition to being a general hospital.
what is a nursing home? A residential facility for patients who can not do their ADLs on their own.
What is a skilled nursing facility? A facility that specializes in helping patients rehablilitate so they can return home or move to another hospital.
What is an assisted facility living? Similar to an apartment complex for those who can do their ADls.
what is an ambulatory surgery center? Outpatient surgery facility where minor surgery is done and the patient leaves the same day.
What is an inpatient? THe patient stays in the facility overnight.
what is an outpatient? The patient leaves the facility the same day they were treated.
What is a clinic? patient sees whatever doctor is on duty,not needing an appointment with a specific doctor.
What is a PA? A physicians assistant,under supervision and licence of a doctor.
what is a Dentist Works with teeth.
What is an Orthodontist? Works with teeth/ braces.
What is Pediatrics? A doctor that works with children.
What is Oncology? A doctor that works with cancer.
What is Optometrist? An OD that Specializes in eye exams.
What is a ophthalmologist? an Md that specializes in eye exams.
What is an obstetrics? works with pregnant women.
what is Orthotics? A physician that fits patients with artificial limbs.
what is Endocrinology? works with hormones.
What is immunology? works with allergies.
what is Rheumatology? works with artharitis.
what is radiology? X rays and radiation treatment.
what is Pulmonology? Works with lungs and breathing.
