Antigen Capture, Presentation, and Recognition
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Conventional Dendritic Cell | majority of DCs example: Langerhan cells: in the skin |
| Plasmacytoid | resemble plasma cells • Present in blood and tissues • Major source of Type 1 interferons in innate immune viral responses. |
| MHC restriction | characteristic of T-lymphocytes that they recognize a foreign peptide antigen only when it is bound to a particular allelic form of MHC |
| T-cell receptor (TCR) | recognizes peptide antigen residues and residues of the MHC of the APC |
| CCR7 | attracts chemokines that direct the DC to exit epithelium and migrate through lymphatic vessels to lymph nodes |
| Class I is expressed on | all nucleated cells |
| Class II is expressed | mainly on DC, macrophages, and B lymphocytes o Also expressed on thymic epithelial cells and endothelial cells o Can be induced on other cell types by cytokine IFN-γ |
