how can monosaccharides vary from one another? vary in the location of the Carbonyl group, and in the orientation of the hydroxyl group.
where do the bonds form between monosaccharides to create polysaccharides? between the OH of two monosaccharides
what are the functions of carbohydrates? precursor to large molecules, structural support, dell identity, energy storage
what are examples of polysaccharides? starch (storage in plants), glycogen (storage in animals), cellulose (structure to plant cell walls), chitin (structure in fungi and insects), peptidoglycan (structure in bacteria)
