The disorders of the lymphatic system

TermDefinition
Anaphylactic Shock -is a severe allergic reaction -the allergen is an antigen that causes allergic responses
HIV -is a virus that causes immune deficiency only in humans, virus damages the immune system and compromises the body’s ability to fight off infection -it can lead to AIDS
AIDS acquired immune deficiency syndrome
Hodgkin’s Disease -Cells in the lymphatic system grow abnormally and may spread beyond the lymphatic system -compromises your body's ability to fight infection
Infectious Mononucleosis -a viral infection where the lymphocytes are elevated -commonly known as mono
Lymphadenitis -the inflammation of a lymph node -bacterial infection
Lymphadema is the build up of extracellular fluid causing tissues to swell and to be damaged
Lupus erythematosis it is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects many of the tissues in the body: joints, blood vessels, kidneys, nervous system, skin
Scleroderma -is an autoimmune disease that thickens the skin and blood vessels -almost all the patients with this disorder tend to have Raynaud's disease(spasm of blood vessels)
ARC -not full-blown AIDS -A combination of symptoms, including fever, blood abnormalities, and susceptibility to infections that is a precursor to AIDS
Tonsillitis inflammation & infection of the tonsils – usually occurs in childhood
