Organelle | A cell structure in which the functions are carried out to ensure the cell's survival. |
Cyotplasm | Jelly -like substance containing materials of the cell. |
Nucleus | The organelle that is the control center of the cell. |
Nucleolus | A structure in the nucleus which combines RNA with proteins. |
Mitochondria | The energy producers of the cell; The powerhouse. |
Vacuole | Storage compartments of the cell. |
Chloroplast | Organelle that uses Sun's energy to change it into chemical energy that plants use. |
Ribosome | Organelle that assembles proteins. |
Smooth E.R. | It breaks down lipids and secretes them. |
Rough E.R. | This organelle has ribosomes studded on it. |
Golgi Body | A structure in cells that sort proteins and packs them into vessels. |
Lysosome | Organelles that break down waste materials. |
Turgor Pressure | The pressure exerted on a plant cell wall by water passing into the cell. |
Endocrine System | The system that secretes hormones and regulates body growth. |
Immune System | A system that fights diseases. |
Lymphatic System | A system that helps rid the body of toxins. |
Homozygous | Used to describe when two alleles are the same. |
Heterozygous | Used to describe when two alleles are different. |
