nucleus the center of an atom

compound a substance that is composed of atoms of two or more different elements that are chemically combined
covalent bond the force that holds together two atoms held by an electron
molecule a group of atoms held together by a covalent bond
ion a charged particle made of atoms
ionic bond the attractive force between two ions of opposite charge
metabolism all of the chemical reactions that occur within an organism
mixture a combination of substances in which the individual componets retain their on properties
solution a mixyure in which oneor more substances are distrubted evenly in another substance
pH is a meassure of how acidic or basic solution is
acid any substance that forms hydrogen ions (H+) in water
base any substance that forms hydroxide ions (OH-) in water
