ACID Any substance that forms hydrogen in water and has a Ph below 7
ATOM smallest particle of an element
BASE substance that forms hydroxide molecules in water has a Ph over seven
COMPOUND substance composed of atoms of two or more different elements that are chemically combined
COVALENT BOND Chemical bond formed when two atoms share electrons
ELEMENT A substance that cant be broken down into any simpler substance.
ION atom that loses electrons
IONIC BOND chemical bond formed by the attractive forces between two ions of oppisite charge.
ISOTOPE atoms of the same element that have dfffernt numbers of nuetrons in the nucleous
METABOLISM the chemical reactions that occur in the an organisms body
MIXTURE combination of substances in which individual particles have their own properties
MOLECULE group of atoms held together by covaelent bonds
NUCLEOUS the brain/center of a molecule
PH the measure of how acidic or basic a solution is
SOLUTION a mixture in which one or more substances are distributed evenly
DIFFUSION when a substance moves form an area of high pressure to an area of low pressure
DYNAMIC EQUILIBRIUM when diffusion happens but there is no over all change in pressure.
HYDROGEN BOND weak bond that is formed when hydrogen forms with other negativly charged particles
POLAR MOLECULE a molecule with a unequal distribution of charge
AMINO ACID basic building blocks of proteins
CARBOHYDRATE organic compound used to store energy
ENZYME type of protein found in all things
