Hypothesis A testable explanation for a question/problem
Experiment Procedure that tests a hypothesis
Experimental group In an experiment, the group that is tested
Control group In an experiment, the group used for comparison; receives no experimental treatment
Independent variable A single factor changed by the scientist in an experiment
Dependent variable Change(s) measured/recorded in an experiment
Constants Factor that do not change in an experiment
Biology The study of life
Organism Anything that shows all the characteristics of life; a living thing
Metabolism The process of breaking down food into energy (ATP)
Reproduction The process of making more of your own kind
Responsiveness Reacting to something in your environment
Heredity The process of passing traits from parents to offspring
Growth Increase in size
Homeostasis Regulation of an organism's internal environment to a proper balance
