| Quantitative Data | Scientific measurements, often out into tables and graphs. |
| Inductive Reasoning | The process of taking specific facts to make a generalization. |
| Deductive Reasoning | The process of taking a general rule and finding specific results. |
| Hypothesis | A tentative answer to a well-framed question. |
| Scientific Method | An idealized process that includes observations, a question, a hypothesis, a prediction, an experiment, and a conclusion. |
| Controlled Experiment | An experiment where an experimental group is tested against a control group. |
| Theory | A broad, well-tested explanation for a natural event. |
| Technology | applies scientific knowledge for a specific purpose. |
