Diversity of Species

| Taxonomy | The branch of biology that names and classifies species. |
| Vertical Dimension | The size scale that reaches all the way from molecules to the biosphere. |
| Horizontal Dimension | The great diversity of species. |
| Kingdom | A classification that includes Monera, Animalia, Protista, Plantae, and Fungi. |
| Domain | A classification that categorizes the five kingdoms into three domains: Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukarya |

| domain Archaea | The domain consisting of prokaryotes, many of which live in extreme enviroments. |
| domain Eukarya | The domain consisting of all organisms made up of eukaryotic cells. |
