Punnet square terminology

| carrier | organism with a gene for a sex-linked trait but does not show the trait |
| dihybrid cross | deals with two sets of characteristics at the same time |
| pedigree | chart used to show the presence or absence of a trait in a number of generations |
| genotype ratio | ratio of purebreds to hybrids |
| incomplete dominance | genes of opposing traits combine to form a different characteristic |
| multiple alleles | when more than two types of genes could be at a single locus |
| multiple gene interaction | when two or more genes express a single trait |
| phenotype ratio | ratio of dominant to recessive |
| punnet square | used to depict a genetic cross |
| sex chromosomes | X and Y chromosomes |
| independent assortment | segregation of one set of alleles during meiosis is not affected by the segregation of another set |
