Process of Mitosis
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Prophase 1st point | chromosomes in nucleus condense & become tightly coiled |
| Prophase 2nd point | chromosomes appear shorter & thicker |
| Prophase 3rd point | each chromosome consist of a pair of sister chromatids joined together at the centromere |
| Prophase 4th point | spindle fibres begin to form |
| Prophase 5th point | each pair of centrioles move to the opposite poles of cell |
| Prophase 6th point | at the end of prophase, nucleolous dissapears & nuclear membrane disintergrates |
| Metaphase 1st point | centromers of all chromosomes are lined upa t metaphase plate |
| Metaphase 2nd point | spindle fibres fully formed |
| Metaphase 3rd point | the 2 sister chromatids are still attached to one another at centromere |
| Metaphase 4th point | metaphase ends when the centromers begin to divide |
| Anaphase 1st point | 2 sister chromatids of each chromosome separate at centromers |
| Anaphase 2nd point | the sister chromatids are pulled away to the opposite poles of the cell |
| Anaphase 3rd point | once separated, the chromatids are reffered to as daughter chromosomes |
| Telophase 1st point | telophase begins when the 2 sets of chromosomes reach the opposite poles |
| Telophase 2nd point | the chromosomes begin to uncoil |
| Telophase 3rd point | the spindle fibres dissapear |
| Telophase 4th point | the nuclear membrane reforms |
| Telophase 5th point | the nucleolous also reforms |
