Cellular componentFunction
Cell wall To maintain the shape of the cell
Plasma membrane To control the movement of substances in and out of the cell
Cytoplasm Act as a medium for metabolic reaction and supplies the substances required by the organelles
Nucleus Control and regulates all activities of the cell.Contains heriditary factors.
Ribosomes Synthesis of protein
Rough endoplasmic reticulum Transport the protein synthesised by the ribosomes and to other part of the cell
Smooth endoplasmic reticulum Stimulates the synthesis of lipids and cholesterol and transport them within the cell
Golgi apparatus Receive,pack and secrete proteins
Mitochondria Act as a "power house" of the cell and releases energy for aerobic respiration
Lysosome Contains enzyme which control the breakdown of protein and lipids
Centrioles Formation of spindle fibre during cell division
Chloroplast Contains chrophyll to absorb sunlight and releases energy for photosynthesis
Vacuole Maintains the turgidity of the cell
