Food chains
| Term | Definition |

| Food chain | A series of organisms each dependent on the next as a source of food. |
| producer | A person, company, or country that makes, grows, or supplies goods or commodities for sale. |
| primary consumer | Any organism that consumes or feeds on autotrophs or decaying matter. |
| secondary consumer | An organism that largely feeds on primary consumers. |
| Tertiary consumer | An organism that largely feeds on secondary and primary consumers. |
| Quaternary consumer | quaternary consumers are defined as animals at the apex of the food chain. They eat every species that is below them and do not have to worry of being eaten. |
| Autotrophs | An organism that is able to form nutritional organic substances from simple inorganic substances such as carbon dioxide. |
| Heterotrophs | An organism deriving its nutritional requirements from complex organic substances. |
| Herbivores | Animals that feed on plants |
| Carnivores | Animals that feed on meats |
| Omnivores | Animals that feed on both plants and meats. |
