What type of plant did he used in his experiment's ? Pea plant
Gene is a segment of DNA that encodes for a trait
Allele they are different forms of the same gene
Dominant Allele masks any other gene form present (A)
Recessive Allele the gene form that is being masked by the dominant allele (a)
Homozygous an individual that has two of the same alleles for a gene (AA)
Heterozygous an individual that has two different alleles for a gene (Aa)
Test Cross is crossing an unknown individual with a recessive individual to determine whether the unknown individual is heterozygous or homozygous
Incomplete Dominance neither allele masks the other (intermediate/mix) (red flower X white flower ---> pink flower)
Codominant Allele neither allele masks the other (both alleles are shown) (EX. roan coat color in cows --> is a mixture of red and white hairs)
Multiple Alleles is when more than two alleles influence the same gene
Polygenic traits traits such as hair color that are controlled by more than one gene
Karyotypes they are diagrams that arrange chromosomes from largest to smallest in order to detect diseases caused by nondisjunction or other abnormalities
