Cell Cycle & Sources of Variation

Mitosis is the process in which 2 identical cells are made from 1 for the purpose of growth and replacement.
What are the four steps of mitosis ? Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telephase.
What happens during Prophase ? DNA Replicates
What happens during Metaphase ? the chromosomes line up
What happens during Anaphase ? Chromatids start to split
What happens during Telophase ? the cell membranes pinches inwards
Asexual Reproduction reproduction without the fusion of gametes
Sexual Reproduction requires two individuals (male and female); the fusion of gametes.
Meiosis is the process of making sex cells
Crossing Over is the exchange of genes between homologous chromosomes
Fertilization is the joining of gametes from two sources
Mutations is the change of the DNA sequence
Nondisjunction it occurs when chromosomes don't separate properly during meiosis
