| Xylem | Vascular tissue in plants that carries water and minerals from the roots to stems and leaves. |
| Petiole | Stalk that attaches to a stem. |
| Stoma | A small opening in a leaf that allows gases to enter and leave. |
| Photosynthesis | Process in which a plant makes food. |
| Chlorophyll | The green pigment in plants that capture light energy for Photosynthesis. |
| Pigment | A chemical that absorbs certain types of light. |
| Chemical Equation for Photosynthesis | 6CO2 + 6H2O + Light energy = C6H12O6 + 6O2 |
| Cellular Respiration | The Process in which cells break down food to release energy. |
| Guard Cell | A cell that opens and closes the stomata. |
| Asexual Reproduction | Reproduction that involves one parent and no egg or sperm. |
| Sexual Reproduction | Reproduction that involves two parents, an egg or sperm. |
| Zygote | A fertilized cell. |
| Nectar | A sweet liquid that many kinds of flowers produce. |
| Ovary | Female sex organ that produces egg cells. |
| Pistil | The female part of a flower. |
| Pollen | The tiny structures of seed plants that contain sperm. |
| Pollination | The process by which pollen is transferred from the stamen to the pistil. |
