| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Cell Membrane | made of Lipids which protect the cell and seperate the outside from inside. |
| Cell wall | seperates the outside world from inside the cell and limits the amount of space to get through the holes in the cell wall so that you have to be small enough |
| Chloroplasts | Use sunlight and go through the process of photosynthesis to make food for the cell. |
| Chromosomes | threadlike structure of nucleic acids and protein found in the nucleus of most living cells that carries genetic information |
| Cytoplasm | gooey liquid inside cell for safe movement inside the cell without collisions between any organelles. |
| Endoplasmic reticulum | network of membranous tubules within the cytoplasm of a eukaryotic cell, continuous with the nuclear membrane |
| Golgi bodies | netlike structure in the cytoplasm of animal cells |
| Mitochondria | the power house of the cell. |
| Nuclear Membrane | double membrane which surrounds the nucleus of a Eukaryotic cell. |
| Nucleus | main control system of the cell. |
| ribosomes | make proteins. |
| vacuole | store water and waste |
| Prokaryote | cell with no nucleus |
| eukaryote | cell with a nucleus |
| mitosis | asexual cell division where two identical daughter cells are formed |
| Meiosis | a type of cell division in which parent cell divide to two daughter offspring with half number of chromosomes in each new cell |
| Monomer | what makes up a polymer |
| Polymer | long-chained molecule that is composed of individual monomers |
| Carbohydrates | made of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen and supplies the cell with glucose |
| Lipids | mainly, it is fat |
| proteins | large organic compounds made of amino acids that are arranged in a linear chain |
| nucleic acids | carry the genetic codes of life |
