Genetics Vocabulary

Gene A segment of protein that codes for a particular protein
Chromosome when a organism reproduces the chromosomes is what carries the genetic info
Allele the 2 forms of a gene
Diploid cells with 2 copies of each chromosome, having recieved on copy from each parent
Haploid cells with only one copy of each chromosome
Somatic Cell a regular body cell of an organism, contains 2n
Gamete the sex cell of an organism that contains only one copy of an allele for a given trait
