Cell membrane Controls what goes in and out of the cell.
Cell wall PLANT CELL ONLY: outside structure of a cell. Surrounds the cell membrane.
Chloroplasts PLANT CELL ONLY: Captures energy from sunlight. Uses energy to produce cell food, which is sugar. aka photosynthesis
CHromosomes Found in the nucleus. Made up of DNA and help a cell thrive and reproduce.
Cytoplasm jell like fluid that supports organelles
Endoplasmic Reticulum Carries substances, like proteins, to various parts of the cell.
Golgi Bodies Receives materials from ER, distributes materials.
Mitochondria break down nutrients and provide energy for the cell
Nuclear Membrane Controls what passes in and out of the nucleus
Nucleus Directs all brain activities. Brian of the cell.
Ribosomes Makes proteins for the cell
Vacuole can hold food, water or waste for the cell
Prokaryote cell with no nucleaus
Eukaryote cell with a nucleus
Mitosis a cell division where the cell becomes into 2 identical daughter cells
Meiosis a cell division where the cell becomes into 2 daughter cells with only half then chromosones
Monomer a single molocule that can combine with identical or similar molocules
Polymer many many molecules all strung together to form really long chains
Carbohydrates one of the four major classes of organic compounds in living cells
Lipids molecules that contain hydrocarbons and make up the building blocks of the structure and function of living cells
Protiens large, complex molecules that do most of the work in the cells and are made up of amino acids
Nucleic acids building blocks of living organisms; DNA, RNA, mRNA
