| Binomial nomenclature | Each species is assigned a two part scientific name |
| Genus | A group of closely related species |
| Taxon | A group or level of organization |
| Order | Is a broad taxonomic category composed of similar familys |
| Class | The next larger category is the class composed of similar orders |
| Phylum | Several different classes make up phylum |
| Kingdon | The kingdom is the largest taxonomic category |
| Domain | Is more inclusive category than any other and is larger than a kingdom |
| Bacteria | Member of the domain |
| Eubacteria | The domain bacteria corresponds to the kingdom eubacteria |
| Archaea | Live in some of the most extreme environments you can imagine corresponds to archaebacteria |
| Protista | The kingdom protista is a compound of eukaryotic organisms that cannot be classified as animals plants or fungi |
| Fungi | Members of the fungi kingdom, Fungi are heterotrophs |
| Plantae | Members of the kingdom plantae are multicellular organisms |
| Animalia | Members of the kingdom animalia are multicellular and heterotrophs |
