TermDefinition
Trimester A three month period. Pregnancy consists of three trimesters.
Conception The union of a sperm and egg cell. Conception is the beginning of pregnancy.
Zygote Single-celled organisn that is formed when the separate nuclei of sperm and egg combine into one nucleus.
Prenatal Development All of the development that occurs between conception and birth.
Blastocyst A holow ball of cells that implants itself in the uterus; name for a developing
