| transcription | Stage 1 of protein synthesis, mRNA receives message to make protein |
| translation | Stage 2 of protein synthesis, tRNA delivers amino acids to build protein |
| golgi | Packages protein |
| rough endoplasmic reticulum | Modifies proteins |
| smooth endoplasmic reticulum | Synthesizes lipids and adds parts to cell membrane |
| chloroplast | Uses sunlight to make sugar |
| mitochondria | Breaks down glucose to release energy |
| amino acids | Protein building blocks |
| monosaccharides | Carbohydrate building blocks |
| lipids | Made of glycerol and fatty acids |
| nucleotides | Nucleic acid building blocks |
| plant cell | Contains chloroplast and cell wall |
