| Acquaintances | People who are known, but not close friends. |
| Rapport | A balanced, harmonious atmosphere between two people. |
| Risk-taker | Choosing to share personal information with others that could lead to acceptance and earn respect. |
| Passive | Going along with whatever is said or done in a group. |
| Agressive | A type of behavior that includes yelling, name-calling, criticizing, pushing, shoving, and possible violence. |
| Assertive | When a person uses direct eye contact and genuine expressions and gestures to let other people know what he or she thinks or intends to do. |
| Support Network | Relatives who help each other with child care, parenting, and daily problems. |
| Significant Adults | Nonparental adults who play some important part in a person's life. |
| Multiculturalism | A society with people of different cultural backgrounds. |
| Diversity | The unique qualities of people from different cultural backgrounds; another term for multiculturalism. |
