Organ SystemOrgans and Function
Urinary System Kidneys and Bladder. Filters waste out of blood. Stores waste for relaese
Muscular System Skeletal Muscle Cardiac Muscle Smooth Muscle. Moves the skeleton: Controls the heart: Controls organ movement:
Skeletal System Bones. Gives your body shape and support: Protects internal organs
Lymphatic System Lymphdoids. It’s like the circulatory system: It cleans out the body of excess fluids, waste products and bacteria: Takes this excess waste to the veins
Integumentary System Skin. Protects the underlining tissues from bacteria: Gets rid of waste through sweat: Helps cool the body
Cardiovascular System Heart : Arteries: Veins: Cappilarries. Heart and blood vessels pump fluids, nutrients, blood cells, and other chemicals through the body
Respiratory System Lungs. This is where oxygen is absorbed and carbon dioxide is released
Nervous System Brain: Spinal Cord: Nerves. Senses the environment, controls thought, sends out electrical messages and controls movement
Endocrine System Pituitary Gland: Thyroid Gland: Adrenal Gland: and others..... System of glands that secretes hormones that are chemical messengers that control body functions, mood, and growth
Female Reproductive System Ovaries: Uterus: Vagina. Produces eggs and hormones like estrogen
Digestive System Mouth: Stomach: S. Intestine: L. Intestine: Pancreas: and Others... Food is broken down into nutrients and then absorbed into the blood stream
Male Reproductive System Testes : Penis. Produces sperm and hormones like testosterone
Tissue 4 Main types: Skin : Nervous: Connective: Muscle. A group of similar cells performing the same function
Organ Exs: Brain: Stomach: Heart: Lungs: etc. A group of tissues that carry out a specific function.
Organ System Examples: Cardiovascular: Respiratory: Reproductive. A group of organs that do a specific job
