| Nucleo | The basic unit of DNA |
| Mutation | When an error occurs in cell replication and are usually harmful |
| Gametes | carry genetic information |
| trait | A characteristic |
| purebred / homozygous | always produces offsprings that have the same traits. Two of the same alleles for a trait ex. BB ZZ AA XX GG HH YY OO MM LL CC DD EE FF |
| hybrid/heterozygous | 2 different alleles for a trait. EX. Hh Gg Bb Xx Mm Ll Pp |
| genotype | An organism's genetic makeup. EX. Gg GG dD lL Ll Zz QQ Qq |
| phenotype | the way an organism looks |
| Dominant allele | A dominant allele always shows up in an organism. Represented by a capital letter. Ex. Aa Bb Gg |
| recessive alleles | A recessive allele never shows in an organism if the dominant allele is present |
| Chromosomes | A rod shaped structure that forms when DNA is dividing. |
| inherited traits | The types of traits you were born with. Ex. Blue eyes, brown hair, white skin, ect... |
| Acquired traits | Traits gained after birth Ex. Riding a bike, throwing a ball, ect... |
