Animal Cells

Animal Cell structure and function

StructureFunction
Vacuole stores food, water, wastes,and other materials
Golgi Body Receives material from the endoplasmic reticulum and sends them to other parts of the cell and release materials outside the cell.
Cytoplasm gel-like fluid in which many different organelles are found
Mitochondria produces the cell energy
Endoplasmic Reticulum Carries material from one part of the cell to another
cell membrane forms a barrier between the cytoplasm and the environment outside the cell.
Lysosomes chemicals that break down food particles and worn-out cell parts
Nucleus directs all activities, including reproduction
Ribosomes May be attached to the outer surfaces of the endoplasmic reticulum or may float freely in the cytoplasm. These small structures function as factories to produce proteins.
