Stack CELL STRUCTURE
DEFINITIONS
| CELL STRUCTURE | DEFINITIONS |
|---|---|
| CELL STRUCTURES | |
| Centrioles | cellular division, right angles & tubular |
| Chromosomes | thicken for cell division, composed of DNA, 23 pairs for ea human, in form of chromatids |
| Nucleolus | contains RNS for protein manufacturing, visible only when cell IS NOT dividing |
| Cytoskeleton | composed of microtubles, supports/provides cell structure, aids movement in/out of cell |
| Endoplasmic Reticulum | stores, seperates & serves as cells transport system |
| Smooth E.R. | NO ribosomes |
| Rough E.R. | dotted with chromosomes |
| Ribosomes | protein factores/protein synthesis, composed of RNA & protein |
| Mitochondria | cell's powerhouse, converts glucose to energy, controls level of H2O & PRODUCES ATP |
| Cell (plasma) membrane | controls entry into cell |
| lysosomes | digestive enzymes that breakdown harmful bacteria |
| golgi complex | close to nucleus, proteins are modified, packaged and segregated into vesicles that absorb plasma membrane, release the contents to become lysosomes |
