TermDefinition
Classification Grouping organisms together based on certain characteristics
Taxonomy The science of naming and classifying organisms
Branching Diagrams A line picture that shows what characteristics organisms share and don’t share.
Felis Catus The genus and species name for the common house cat
Archaea Simple bacteria like organisms that don’t have a nucleus
Prokaryotes Microscopic organisms that don’t have a nucleus (bacteria)
Eukaryotes All higher level organism (plants, animals, fungus) that have a nucleus
Monera the Kingdom of living things that include the bacteria
Protists Kingdom of single celled organism that are usually found in pond water. T
Algae Plant like protisits they produce oxygen
Fungi The kingdom of living things that includes mushrooms and mold.
Plantae The kingdom of living things that include plants
Animalia The kingdom of living things that include animals
