| Trapezius | Originates at external occipital protuberance, spinous process of C1-T12 and inserts at spine and acromion of scapula. It serves to elevate and retract scapula. |
| Pectoralis minor | Originates at ribs and inserts at coracoid process and serves to depress scapula |
| Serratus anterior | Originates at lateral surface of ribs and inserts at medial border of scapula. Serves to protract scapula |
| Rhomboids | Originates at thoracic spinous process and inserts at medial border of scapula and serves to retract scapula |
| Levator scapulae | Originates at cervical tranverse processes and inserts at superior angle of scapula and serves to elevate scapula |
