QuestionAnswer
What is the plant's equivalent of the egg and the sperm? Egg and Pollen.
What is 'Magnification'? The degree to which an image appears larger than the actual specimen viewed
What is the definition of the 'Carbon Cycle'? A sequence of processes by which carbon moves from the atmosphere, through living and dead organisms, into sediments and into the atmosphere.
What is 'Biomass'? The total mass of the living organism.
What is 'Homeostasis'? To maintain a constant environment.
What is 'Pollution'? A substance that harms living organisms when released into the environment.
What is 'Mutualism'? A relationship between two organisms where both benefit.
What is a 'Parasite'? An organism that lives on/in a host and takes food from it while it is alive - damaging the host.
Definition of 'Antiseptics'? They kill micro-organisms outside the body and are used to stop the spread of a pathogen.
Definition of 'Antibiotics'? Chemicals used inside patients to kill or slow the growth of bacteria or some fungi.
Define 'Eutrophication'? Excessive nitrates and phosphates in a water source due to runoff from the land, which causes a dense growth of plant life and death of animal life from lack of oxygen.
