Cell Communication

What is Homestasis? Homeostasis mantains stable internal conditions.
What is Diffusion? Diffusion is the movement of molecules from an area of higher concentration to an are of low concentration.
What is Osmosis? Osmosis is the diffusion of water.
What is Passive Transport? Passive transport is the diffusion and osmosis and other methods of trnasport that don't require energy.
What is Active Transport? Active transport is the transport from areas of lower concentratiton to ares of higher concentration,and requires energy.
Distilled water cells placed in this type of water will gain water and swell -animalcells will burst-plant cell walls prevent plants cells from bursting
Cell Membrane The Cell Membrane allows certain things to enter and leave the cell.
Salt water cells placed in saltwater will lose water and will shrink.
Nerve cells Nerve cells can send messages to other nerve cells using neurotransmitters
Hormones hormones target specific cells that have receptor proteins in their cell membrane. Hormones and receptors fit together specifically like lock and key.
