Albumin Blood protein- keeps blood liquids from permeating blood vessels
Antibody Blood protein that plays a role in immunity
Fibrinogen Blood proteins that plays a role in blood clot formation
Hormones Substances released by glands- chemical messengers
Electrolytes Salts and minerals- dissolved in blood
Nutrients Food for cells carried in the blood
White Blood Cells Cells in blood that play a role in immunity
Platelets Cells in blood that play a role in clotting
Red Blood Cells Cells in blood that carry oxygen and proteins
Serum Plasma without fibrogen and clotting factors
Hematocrit Percent of blood volume occupied by red blood cells (45% is normal)
Polycythemia Excessive red blood cells in blood (high hematocrit)
Anemia Decreased amount of red blood cells (low hematocrit)
