| Adaptation | A characteristic that helps an organism to survive and reproduce in its environment. |
| Species | A group of organisms that can mate with one another to produce fertile offspring. |
| Population | A group of individuals of the same species living in the same place. |
| Evolution | The process in which populations change over time. |
| Fossil Record | All the fossils that have been found. |
| Branching Diagram | A diagram that shows the relationship between species. |
| Charles Darwin | Father of the Theory of Evolution. |
| Natural Selection | The process by which organisms that are better adapted to their environment survive and reproduce more successfully than less well adapted organisms do. |
| Speciation | The formation of a new species as a result of evolution |
| Reproductive Isolation | Groups of a population that have been reunited and can not interbreed. |
