Genetics The scientific study of heredity is the key to understanding what makes each organism unique
Fertilization During sexual reproduction, male and female reproductive cells join to produce's a new cell.
Trait a specific characteristic, such as seed color or plant height of an individual
Hybrids The offspring of crosses between parents with different traits.
genes Offspring passed from parent to children.
Alleles The different forms of a gene
Principle of dominance States that some alleles are dominant and others are recessive.
Segregation Alleles for tallness and shortness in the f1 plants must segregate from each other.
Gametes gametes formation, alleles segregate from each other so that each gamete carries only a single copy of each gene
Probability likelihood that a particular event will occur.
Homoygous Organisms that have tow identical alleles for a particual gene
heterozygous Organisms that have town different alleles for the same gene
