| Dormant | To sleep (a sleeping plant) |
| Seedling | A tiny plant just beginning to grow |
| Embryo | The baby plant inside the seed |
| Testa | The shell, or coat of a seed |
| Hilum | The belly button of the seed where it was attached to the plant |
| Cotyledons | Largest part of the embryo. Provides food for the embryo once it starts to grow |
| Radicle | Becomes the root of the plant |
| Hypocotyl | The part of the embryo that becomes the stem |
| Epicotyl | The top of the embryo, which holds the plumule |
| Germination | When the embryo wakes up and begins to grow |
| Seed leaves | The cotyledons come out of the soil with plant and look like leaves (seed leaves) |
| Consumers | Things that consume other parts of God's creation |
| Producers | Things that produce their own food, like plants |
| Monocot | Has only one cotyledon |
| Dicot | Has two cotyledons |
