QuestionAnswer
Science An organized way of gathering and analyzing evidence about the natural world.
Observation The act of noticing and describing events or processes in a careful, orderly way.
Interference A logical interruption based on what scientists already know.
Hypothesis A scientific explanation for a set of observations that can be tested in ways that support it or reject it.
Controlled Experiment An experiment in which only one variable changes.
Independent Variable The variable that is deliberately changed.
Dependent Variable The variable that is observed and changes in response to the independent variable.
Control Group The group that is exposed to the same conditions as the experimental group except for one independent variable.
Data Quantitative or Qualitative in commission.
Bias A particular preference or point of view that is personal, rather than scientific.
Biology The study of life.
DNA A genetic code written in a molecule.
Theory A well tested explanation for a range of phenomena.
Stimulus A signal to which an organism responds.
Sexual Reproduction A process where cells from two parents unite to form the first cell of a new organism.
Asexual Reproduction A process where a single organism produces offspring identical to itself.
Homeostasis A state of biological equilibrium.
Metabolism The combination of chemical reactions through which an organism builds up or breaks down materials.
Quantitative Numerical values
Qualitiative Non-numerical data such color and behavior.
Biosphere "Living planet" where all forms of life are connected.
