cell membrane the outer layer of an animal cell made of lipids, controls what enters and leaves the cell
cytoplasm the inner filling part of a cell, holds the organelles in place
ribosome an organelle in which proteins are made, sometimes attached to the ER
nucleus the control center of the cell
organelle the cell's "organs"
endoplasmic reticulum internal membrane compartments which "transport" materials the cell produces and receives
vacuole the storage center of a cell
golgi apparatus a cell organelle in Eukaryotes which packages and sends along materials within the cell
nuclear membrane double membrane surrounding the nucleus, controls what leaves and enters the nucleus
mitochondrion cell organelles which produce ATP energy through oxidative respiration
chloroplast organelle found only in plant cells and produces energy through photosynthesis
lysosome an organelle which uses digestive enzymes to break down waste
microtubule hollow protein fiber involved in cell structure and movement
cytoskeleton protein filaments involved in a cell's shape, structure, and movement
centriole rod shaped organelle, helps in cell division
