How are T-cells helpful to your body? they help the B-cells fight off the virus
What do B-cells produce that inactivate surface proteins(antigens) on a virus? antibodies
what is something that can help a protist(or other cells) move around? -flagella -cilia -pseudopod
What is an antigen? a protein molecule on the outside of a pathogen that the immune system recognizes as a foreign body
What is a T-cell? a type of white blood cell in the immune system that helps the B cells identify pathogens from one another ( aka : helper T cells)
What is a B-cell? a type of white blood cell in the immune system that produces proteins ( antibodies, etc..) that help destroy pathogens
What is are phagocytes? a type of white blood cell in the immune system that destroys inactivated pathogens by engulfing them and breaking them down.
What is an antibody? a protein molecule produced by the B cells of the immune system to inactivate or destroy a pathogen
Innate/Genetic Immunity? -inflammation: white blood cells -fever
Acquired Immunity? -vaccine -exposure to pathogen
Passive Immunity? -antibiotic or antiviral or antifungal -mother's breast milk -antibody transfer---anti-venom & drugs
What is antibiotic resistance? when a bacteria become resistant to the drugs (antibiotics)
what does "Errors of the Immune System" mean? The immune fails to detect between self & non-self.
