Hyperplasia increase in # of normal cells
Metaplasia change from one cell type to another, or invasion of different cell type which induces growth
Dysplasia growth of immature cells (un-developed)
neoplasia abnormal growth of cells (usually assigned to abnormal cells)-->Most of normal cancers
Desmoplasia growth of fibrous or connective tissue
tumor non-specific term meaning lump or swelling (often a synonym for neoplasm) -you can also have tumors with non-neoplastic cells tho
Cancer any malignant neoplasm or tumor
Metastasis discontinuous spread of a malignant neoplasm to distant sites -move from point A to point B -normal cells to do not move from one place to another
Carcinoma neoplasia of epithelial -predominant cancer
Sarcoma neoplasia of muscle or endothelial -all internal..not exposed to the outside environment
Tetracarcinoma neoplasm is of mixed- of mixed cell lineages
