What do carbs do for our body? give us fast fuel a body can use quickly
Why do we need lipids? (3) make fatty acids, helps development of nervous and reproductive system
A calorie is a measurement of what energy
What are the 2 main categories of vitamins? fat and water - soluble
Why do we need vitamins? (2) normal growth, maintain life
Where are enzymes made? Ribosomes
What type of macromolecule category do enzymes fall into? protein

Where does the digestive system begin? mouth
what is the name of the tube food goes down when you swallow? esophagus

When food leaves the stomach, where does it go next? small intestine

Where does the unused food leave the body at? the anus
What 2 things does saliva do? makes food wet/soft, chemical starts digestion
What enzyme is in your saliva? amylase
What does your liver do (2)? Cleans blood, sends liquid/chemicals to small intestine.
After food leaves your mouth, what is the correct sequence that it passes through the rest of the digestive system? esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, anus
How could you increase metabolism? walk, exercise, move more...
Define peristalsis. muscle movement that moves food through the digestive tract
Fat digestion starts where? small intestine
